Probably trip:
The first day, urumqi-dunhuang.
The second day, dunhuang-golmud, an afternoon nap.
On the third day, golmud-Lhasa, midway high altitude, not suitable for accommodation, so very hard today, have to get to Lhasa.
As for how to Lhasa visit, and from which route back to, is up to you.
But hope you had better not go XinCangXian, go XinCangXian you might regret it. The qinghai-tibet railway station along the way many, the oil is not the problem, if not be at ease, can take alternate fuel tank.
